Dear friends,

These parks in east Africa are teeming with life in a way that is hard to imagine without seeing. I was lucky enough to witness the wildebeest migration and the good fortune it brings to the local lions. Wildebeests as far as the eye can see...apparently about three million...migrate through here annually and it's something to behold. Saw almost every creature imaginable including a rare glimpse of a leopard in a tree and some jackals. Missed the rhinos but I'm not going to complain. Most pics taken with the good camera, these are just the smartphone snaps. Serengeti is a magical place and makes me think about the cradle of human civilization as well. All based on the grass. Amazing.

From here I'm cycling the scenic route around Mt Meru and Kilimanjaro (over 19,300 feet!) and will likely visit the spice islands of Pemba and Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean.

What a world.

With love, from under African skies,

Jerry
